    what is best format - dvd+R or -R

    Hi, I need help please. I have a dvd player that can play both dvd+R or dvd-R but if i back up all my dvd, which format will be most likely to be played on most players in 5 years? Please help, i have 50+ movies i want to backup that my kids will destroy if i don't.......thanks

    1) To answer that would be pure speculation - on anybody's part...
    2) Many newer standalone DVD players play both formats
    3) Five years is an eternity in the world of high tech. You may not even be playing present-day format DVDs five years from now

      DVD-R is less expensive as it is a little older than DVR+R. There's virtually no difference in performance, file space, or quality,

        Thanks for fast answer. Let me put it to ya like this then. I have no experience in this subject. If you were going to backup would you use +R or -R........thanks

          I know of two players in my niebourhood that won't play +R so I stick to -R ....

            i use both -/+R
            my Apex plays both of these so i use whichever i have
            I read somewhere that +R has better possibilities for future advancement ?
            like setarip said you never know what the future holds
            look at cd vs. dvd over the past few years
            also a new technology ( i think it's called blue laser ) is supposed to be around the corner

              Thanks for more advice. I will be checking up on this forum every night, so if any others can chime in on whether you backup dvd on to +R or -R ...I would appreciate it. THanks for help so far ya'll
