Are you having a specific issue with DVD recording or burning? Please be advised that just promoting a particular software package, without stating a reason thereof is not in line with these forums

Also having dvd x copy problems

        Hi

        I`m about to burst

        I`m using DVDXCopy Platinum v3.2.1

I decided to try this software because

I fell for all the hype , & many folks

        swear it works

I rip a 7.63 Gig Dvd to my drive

which results in a 4.69 files

But when I insert blank DvD as

        instructed , the write immediately

fails , & I`m directed to see the log

wherein I find no helpful info

I`m using memorex 4.70 Gig Dvds

        I`ve tampered with compression

settings , & choose all title sets

        I get same problem evertime

Can anyone direct me to a successful

burn . It must be me because

everyone else raves on this software

I tried DvD decrypter (Nice -)

but failed using ifoEdit . I havent

received a reply to that post yet .

        Cheers

Problem with dvd platinum.I had the same problem but then d/l trial of dvd xcopy express from 321 studios. It allows a couple of burns. Popped in a dvd and it burned perfect it compressed it etc.Trial doesn't let you select many options but it came out perfect. If you bought platinum and it doesn't work you can get full refund from 321 studios.Just contact them.Perhaps your copy is corrupt?? Just an idea Good Luck!!!

The movie is the largest file listed evrything else is menus or previews. Look for the largest file-used dvdrw to burn it just to make sure you get the movie only. If it works switch to normal dvd backup medium. Don't know how to delete the bacup screen that comes up!! You could call 321 studios and tell them you are having a problem and see what they say-just an idea-Probably another member has a better idea!!!

I also had same problem with 321, the first trial worked fine, but second one would only play in pc and not in standalone third one, read but would not write. Ive heard many problems with this program. Try and get a refund. Best progs I have found is to use Shrink (Re-author provided no subtitles) then copytodvd costs around $30 but you can get in on trial (my trial lasted 3 months until I got caught out!!) Have backed up around 50 dvds with no problems - so far!

Just read your post again where you say "which results in 4.69 files" You would not be able to burn that amount onto a blank DVD anyway, as the maximum is 4.367 GB.

You can find Shrink on dvdrhelp.com or doom9.org, in fact it is all over the place if you just type in dvd shrink in Google search. In the meantime I will try and find if you cant. I still use the older version as it works well for me and I have learned now from the saying "if it aint broke, dont fix it"!!

                          Judy,
sorry forgot to mention yes it does compress, obviously the bigger the DVD, the slightly less quality and two discs are recommended if it is huge but I am not clever enough to split it. In the guide which I will try and find for you, it says if you go over compression 8, try out on a dvd rw to see quality. I get rid of everything, trailers etc by using re-author but came unstuck when I didnt realise there were subtitles within the middle of the movie. In this case I would do what the guide recommends and put all the "rubbish" into slow motion to get the best quality left for main film.

Message to XIXGRIFTERXIX - wow what a name - your quote would not come up ie how to get rid of 321 backup screen.
All you need to do is put the finished dvd through shrink using re-author, that is what I do if a friend gives me a back up with all the rubbish on it. Once in re-author, you can check with the preview and if the backup screen is still there, I'd be surprised if it were, you can hit the start-end button and cut off what you want.
Wouldnt it just be easier to use Shrink, then a good burning program, like CopytoDVD (very cheap around $30.00) which is excellent French program and might still be on a long trial I used it for 3 months, re-installing after every 12 trials or whatever it was until I got caught out and had to buy it! - have a look at vso site or read up on shrink guide I have given earlier today in this forum.
