    NERO won't work w/new burner

I bought a DVD/R drive and the Nero Software that came with my new computer won't recognise the burner because it wasn't bundled with my origional system. Seems like a rip off to me....I bought the software when I bought my computer, so I should be able to use it. Anyone know how to get around this? Version is 5.5

    Thanks!

"I bought the software when I bought my computer"

The seller would argue that you only purchased the computer - and that the bundled software (including the limited version of NERO) was "gifted" to you, free of charge...

      Ya you are probably right
Is there any other good Free burning software out there?
I had no luck with burnatonce, but I think the file I was trying to burn may have been the problem and now I ran out of disks.

      Thanks again.

A lot of versions of Nero only works with the recorders that come with the it.

I believe imgtool classic is free. It creates an ISO image which can then be burnt with the free DVD Decrypter.

        A tip.

Use RW's to test backups before using R's. They can then be reused.

Ya I thought of using RW's after. Live & learn.
          Thanks for the advise.

Did you try and download Nero ver. 6? It is free for 30 days, or in your case, if you have a valid serial number for 5.5, you might qualify for an upgrade.

Ya I downloaded Nero 6 but still costs $49 with 5.5
Haven't tried yet as I haven't made it out to the disk store.

I also have Roxio Easy CD Platinum, and I upgraded and they have a DVD "data" burn. Has anyone used this to burn files from DVD Shrink?

              Thanks again.

I'd stick with Nero over Roxio.

Thanks but I have had no luck with burnatonce.
less than 1 minute into the burn disk ejects and it announces that burn is successfull....not!

Burnatonce doesn't work with DVD unless you also install ProDVD. This also needs a license key to work.
