GSpot believes the filetype to be RIFF "wrapper"

    Hi!

I have a movie a can't play. GSpot does not support the filetype and believes it to be RIFF "wrapper", what does that mean?

    Thanks for help!

    1) Load the original video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

        RIFF "wrapper" A result""

        Yeah..
That's the way to do it.
Thank's for your help with the RIFF "wrapper" format.
Although the file has an AVI extension it appears to be MPEG-1.

After loading into Virtual dub I was able to get some information and view the preview, which shows the file to be intact.

Not sure what to do with it next in order to compile a complete playable video file, Have used Gordian knot before, so do have a little experience.

Will backup file and have a play with virtual dub..

I have attatched a capture of the output results..

        Thank's folks.

        Richard..

I'd suggest you read my post again, carefully. It is addressed to "johangustaf" - who, in accordance with the new rules stated, "I have a movie a can't play"...

(As opposed to "richard1961", who states "I have Just Downloaded a movie file from a P2P network" - Which is a vciolation of the new rules)

Actually, this is okay by the new rules :
