    Unreadable dvd's!

I have been trying to back up my copy of the "italian job". I have tried twice and got unreadable discs both times. I have an MSI dvd +- r,rw burner in my pc. It has xp pro and 512 ddr. I tried the first backup with dvd x copy and got an unreadable disc. I tried the next time with dvd shrink copying only the movie files and burning with nero 5.5.10.45 . I placed all the shrunk files into the VIDEO.TS folder and burned an unreadable disk. I tried to read it in windows explorer, nero, power dvd all nothin. I am using imation dvd +R 4x media.
    Thanks!

Just check to make sure that you're making a DVD Video and not a DVD Data disk. I read someone doing that.

    Good luck!

Have you tried to use "-r" disk?

        Thanx for the replies
I have not tried any other media and I am sure I chose the dvd video button on Nero.

Alright fair enough just checkin. Maybe go with a different type of media as Ormonde suggested.

Today I bought a TDK brand dvd rw+2.4x and it wrote perfectly. I guess it must be a media problem. I dont want to keep using RW media. Next I will try a different brand R+ or R- media. Anyone else using this burner that can tell me what media type or brand works for them? Its an MSI dr4-a.
            Thanx

              Success!
I burned two dvd's tonight using the same rw+ media. The first would only burn at 2x. The second I forced to run at 2.4x which was the slowest speed I could select. I went to msi's website and found imation rw+ 4x is not on the approved disk list. Shoulda looked there before buying!
