Error when trying to burn DVD

WHY DO I ALL OF A SUDDEN GET AN ERROR WHEN I GO TO WRITE A DVD? IT
SAYS ''WRITING ERROR CMD:42,SCENE:3, ASC:113, ASCQ:3'' AN ERROR
    OCCURRED DURING READING.
TMPGenc used for burning. They say it is my drive. HAve tried everything. What would make it go bad like this. It will read DVD, but will not write. Anyone else experience this before?

    1) I assume you are, in fact, using "TMPGEnc DVD Author" and NOT "TMPGEnc", which is a different program

    2) The error message says, "an error occurred during reading". So why do you say that, "It will read DVD..."?

It will play DVD video, but when I go to burn a new DVD I get this error. Nero says "power calibration error" Today I noticed it will not read some CD's...I give up. This thing is only a few months old. What could make it be such a lemon?
