file size when converting mpeg to DVD

    Hi
Could someone explain to me why the file size of mpeg file increases when I try to convert it to dvd format and burn it to dvd disc. I use Ulead Video Studio 6. When I insert mpeg2 file into the program and use option "create iso image to hard disc" the size bar shows over 6 Gb although the original size of mpeg file is 2.5 Gb. I was expecting that the sizes would be equal. What is the reason?

Probably because the bitrate set in Ulead Video Studio 6 was very high. Try and determine the bitrate, and resolution of the "Original" mpeg file. Download GSpot in order to check.

It could be the resolution. Nero 6 always tries to calculate the resolution to iiix576. So if your mpeg file got 480x480 (SVCD) Nero makes it to 480x576! That increase the file size.
