    Corrupt video files

    I am getting an increasing number of video files (.mpg .avi) that I have viewed before becoming unreadable.

    I get the message "the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable" whenever I try to copy, move or even delete these files.

    It is not a Hard drive problem as I have the same problem on different drives.

    Any help would be greatfull

    For AVI files, you could try and use a utility called "AviFiXP"

      I just tried AviFIXP but it could not open the file so could not fix it.

        "I just tried AviFIXP but it could not open the file so could not fix it".

        I hate to say it, but you might be out of luck.

          Sounds like you have the misfortune of a virus on your system...

          (Possibly from a downloaded file)

            I have run virus scans with no sign of a virus. But think that my windows is in need of a fresh install as more and more of my files and directorys are becomming corrupted and unusable.

            Thank you for your help

              "more of my files and directorys are becomming corrupted and unusable."

              Still sounds like a virus (of the worm variety)...

              Hope all works well for you with the fresh install ;>}
