playing 5.1 sound dvds on a 2 channel player?

all my burnt dvds are 5.1 sound and i just bought a in dash dvd player for my car but its a 2 channel dvd player... will i be able to hear sound? im assuming that the sound will just decode to 2 channel sound?

Most players will automatically downmix the audio - as long as it's not DTS (Some will downmix DTS as well)...
