jm1647 - IfoEdit is a HUGE learning curve. I would start at PgcEdit if you want to "tinker" as FallenAngel as mentioned. It is much more user friendly and has a pretty good help document.

@blutach Like I said just lookin' at IfoEdit ....wwwhhhhhoooosssshhhh, right over my head (for now). When FallenAngel mentioned IFO Edit and PgcEdit I thought he meant to use them if the dvd stuff had hit the fan.

Ya think "tinkering" with PgcEdit I can get some sorta menu or movie navigation going on a dvd with a few titles?

Thank you for the schoolin' again

I'm tryin' to get all this stuff to sink in...I'm gonna use the hammer thing maybe that'll help

With PgcEdit, you can certainly change the navigation commands and the structure of the DVD. This thread is not the place for a discussion about PgcEdit, though.

I am using titlewriter and dvdlab to make menus for episode compilation dvd's.. so far I have figured it out pretty well except I can't get the menu button on my dvd remote to take me back to the menu on the dvd. It starts at the menu but how do I make it go to the main menu when I push the menu button on the remote using dvd lab?

Create a Button on your Titleset Menu to return to the vmg root menu. Thats the way I did it in the templates,
The Menu button (remote) will kick you into the menu for the VTS titleset that you are currently in.

All i have is the main vgm menu becuase i dont need audio or chapter selection.. i just want one menu that selects each episode and then be able to return to that menu during an episodie by pressing the menu button.

Oh I See - You Should have that automatically/now. I Just created a test vmg menu in that fashion and during DVD play of an episode titleset my remotes menu button sent me to the root Vmg menu (Since it is the only one that exists)

Did you link buttons using the pulldown selector in DvdLab.

You might try searching/posting your question in mmbforum (DVDLab Forum)

heres a couple of answers I found over there

In other words my setup time per Dvd - for movie only (Knock off end creds and initial studio crap) +orig/generic menu is less then 1 min/Per Dvd + DvdShrink initial analysis.
I usually stack up 3 or 4 on my harddrive and crunch them all at once.
Then walk away and have a cold one

It looks like this new version will do what I want but I can't figure it out
What i'd like to do is:1,put disc in drive
2,Open Dvd shrink select movie only, etc.
3,When shrink is done,Have titlewriter add title.
4,Proceed to burn with appropriate program
Is that already possible?I'm not to familiar with making command lines but am willing to read some guides.

                      Boot TW
                      Put disk in drive
Push Run Transcoder (Assumes You see path to dvd shrink)
Reduce Shrink Target Size to make room for menu

                      Shrink Normally (reauthor)-and start backup
Make sure Create Video_ts folder option ticked
                      Minimize Shrink Backup window
Behind it you will see TW's Auto Add menu (fill in the blanks)
if you wish to burn/? you type enough of the program name to identify(Case sensitive) in TW's command list(Bottom window) and put 1 in the How many times field.
                      Select Automated Mode
                      Auto Add closes
Opt-Select menu, location of menu, and dvd play start options
A word Of caution on Burning ->Automated Mode -> When Menu is readded
(The Templates I provided are extremely reliable -You Can AutoBurn)
Don't AutoBurn if adding Menu's from original disk --ALWAYS check the play before burning

                      Opt-Select (Settings)(Close down computer,etc)
                      Req-Hit Save Changes
                      Req-Answer Start another compiliation screen
                      TW will now control Shrinking,DVD_text,Menu_Addition?,Burning/?,Shutdown

As to creating burn? entries in TW's command list
                      NeroCmd (Uses Nero Full Retail)
                      NeroExpressBurn (Uses Nero -Not Retail)
This makes extensive use of TW's Extended Commandline
Pretty much any program can be ECL'ed by noting the windows, locations of buttons, editfields etc.
The only burning prog I have is nero so I can't comment/script other burning software

I've Found the TW's ECL to be extremely useful outside of TW(To beat Windows Quirks/Lacks/foibles) .
And am currently ripping it out of TW into a standalone app with an internal Spy++ like helper for clk locations, window titles.Ctrlids, etc during ecl script file creation.
Creating these ecl files will never be 1 clk simple (It is programming after all).
All I can say is to say hardcopy/Any text editor the NeroExpressBurn file and watch it while running(perhaps edit up the steptime to give you time to see individual steps work). I've pretty much given "How To" script/tricks for everything in that file.

                        FallenAngel,

Hi! I've been using TW for a week and have burnt some dvds successfully. However, there's one small problem.

When I burn a DVD9, I normally don't compress them (in order to preserve quality) but instead I will split it into 2 DVD-Rs using DVDShrink. After that, I would put back the menu using TW. Normally the first disc is ok, but for the second disc, even though the menu do appear, the numbering was wrong, obviously because now chapter 1 in the menu will point to, say, chapter 23 (the first chapter in Disc 2), and so on.

Is there any way for me to correct this small problem, so that those pointers in the menu will now point to the right chapters and disable the pointers to chapters in Disc 1?

I'm sorry because I'm not a techie. I'd be very glad if you could give me a hand in solving this problem.

Hmm thats actually the way its supposed to work.
As there is no possible way TW can know this is anything but a full movie on a disk with a comprehensive menu.
But I clearly see the problem.

You could use PgcEdit manually to change them.

I'll think about it for the next ver. Its tricky to automate that into TW's GUI although the actual changes are simple. Maybe an option under settings can be added

                            Hi FallenAngel,
Ive been using TW to run DVDshrink and then automatically add the text.Works great !!
What I'd like to be able to do is add a second line of text, but there is only a box to add the first line.Is this possible with the automatic version?

                              Hi FallenAngel,

                              Thanks for your prompt reply.

                              I will try out PgcEdit.

in your opinion, is IfoEdit better?

Hopefully you will enhance TW with the said functionality, I really love to use the combo of DVD Decrypter + DVD Shrink + TW + Nero, these are all very user-friendly. When i know that i'll have to use PgcEdit or IfoEdit, i know i'll have to go through a steep learning curve...

                              Thanks again!

Just made a small change to kill the right buttons for deleted chapters at end of movie in the beta (it was killing N+1) not N --OOPS
