Latest Nero necessary with pioneer DVR-108?

I have nero version 6.3.0.3 and I just bought a pioneer DVR-108. I read somewhere that you need to update to at least 6.3.0.17 or better yet 6.3.0.20. Do I have to update nero? I want to burn dual layer disks.

One thing is for sure, it can only get better since it is a free update.

Can you get DL media? In the Uk it's a little thin at the moment
