    Widecreen Playback problems

    Hello all,

I've had this problem with playing some of my divx files. I have a 4:3 monitor and a 16:9 LCD tv both connected to my computer. When I play the file on my monitor, there are letterboxes both above and below the image just as there should be for widescreen format movies.

Here's the stinkin' problem, on my dell widecreen lcd tv the image does not use the horizontal extent of the screen, it plays the divx as if the widescreen tv is only capable of 4:3 output such that there are black bars on all sides of the image. I have played with the TV settings but all they do is stretch the horizontal extent of the image without a proper vertical correction.

If anyone could offer and help, I'd greatly appreciate it

    Thanks

    Dr. Noob
