More Illegal Disc Error Message with Nero

    Hi all,
i have been reading several posts with Nero-Dvd Shrink problems resulting to an illegal disc error message but have yet to find a solution for mine. I use Nero 6.6.0.6 on a laptop with a Ricoh DVD+R/RW-CDR/RW combo drive and when trying to burn an MP3 compilation to DVD i get the Illegal Disc error message and burn process would fail after writing about 1.5gb. This is happening using both BENQ and TDK media. Here's the weird part. I could burn the same compilation on a Verbatim DVD+RW but not a Verbatim DVD+R which gave a write error message while or after trying to write the lead in.
I have posted my nero log for the TDK burn which was my latest unsuccessful attempt.

You do have the latest firmware installed - but your burner don't like your brand of discs.

Also the burner should support bitsetting - have you tried burning without it enabled?

In the backup section of DVD Shrink - last tab (Burnsettings) - disable "Book type DVD-ROM"

Just to make sure I understand correctly, your trying to make a actual MP3 CD?

            MP3 DVD from NeroSmartStart.

            I use Nero only,not Shrink.
I found book type settings in the Choose Recorder under the Recorder menu. Under options it will let me specify amongst, Automatic, DVD-ROM, Physical Disc Drive or Current Recorder settings. The default was set to automatic which i think is the same as DVD-ROM. I tried Physical Disc Drive and Current Recorder Settings with no success though Physical Disc Drive would fail at 1% whilst current Recorder settings failed at 33% burn. I assume that physical disc drive means that if i insert a DVD+R it would burn it as a DVD+R not a DVD-ROM. What does current recorder settings mean?

            Thanks again

Same problem happens with an iso DVD image file.

Ok, i think i am getting closer.
To recap, my computer is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D1840W with a Ricoh DVD+RW(1.03 Firmware)) that as the spec sheet says is supposed to burn DVD+R and DVD+RW media at a 2.4x speed. When i insert my TDK media(1-8x supported speeds) in the drive the Nero(Ver 6.6.0.6) software gives a write speed of 4x which is not correct(or is it?) and tries to burn at that speed which i assume is why i get write errors and illegal disc errors. I can burn CD-R's at max speed which is 16x and Verbatim DVD+RW's at 2.4x so i assume that Nero has a wrong write speed assumed for my drive. If all this is correct how can i force Nero to not go over 2.4x for burning DVD+R's. Does it have to do with the media?

                  Thanks again
