    Video Clip? what file

    Hi,

Have downloaded lord of the rings and its in "video clip" file format?? what format is this is it avi?

Tried editing the film to fit on to cd but after converting to mpeg using tmphenc their is no sound? the actual file plays/sounds okay using windows media player but too big to burn to cd any ideas.

    Thanks

It is most likely an AVI file with VBR (Variable Bit Rate) MP3 audio - which TMPGEnc cannot handle.

Load the file into VirtualDub. From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information".

    Post everything listed here.

Yes, it's a DivX-compressed (v.4.12) .AVI file with VBR (Variable Bit Rate) MP3 audio (The audio filelength versus that of the video is the giveaway). TMPGEnc will not accept VBR MP3 audio for input - that's why you wound up with a silent video.

Simply use VirtualDub to save the audio stream as an Uncompressed PCM (WAV) file.
Then set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Then save the .AVI as a silent .AVI (set "Audio" to "No audio" after you've saved the WAV file).

Then close VirtualDub and restart it
          Set "Audio" to "No audio"
          Load your silent .AVI
Set "Video" to "Direct Stream Copying"
Under "Audio" click on "WAV Audio" and load your .WAV
From the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save as AVI" and save your file with a new filename.

Your new .AVI should now be totally (video and audio) acceptable to TMPGEnc.

          Let us know of your success ;>}

                another question

the file for the 1st half is to big to burn to cd - so with tmpgenc I save part 1 up to a cut off point some 3/4 way through video. that views fine and sounds fine

part 2 of the 1st video or the last 1/4 was then saved using tmpgenc on the corrected file. but on watching the sound sync is out?

luckily the 2nd half of the video burnt all to cd no problem.

the problem is splitting the converted mpegs file in to two seperate bits?

                any more ideas

                Thanks
