how long should it take to burn 8x dvd?

hi how long should it take to burn a full 8 x dvdr?

how long should it take to write the lead in on a dvdr?

my system at the moe is taking around 12 -15 minutes to burn a full dvdr but is taking 1.45 mins to burn lead in and all the dvds created seem to fail?

    any ideas anyone ?

firmwares are up to date and have latest version of nero and alcohol 120% if you require more info please let me know?

    About 8 mins

That is more like 4x speed as for the lead in that is a long time on my burner it is about 30 seconds. As for the failing burns you should try burn at 4X also if using shrink and DVD Decrypter have shrink burn to ISO and burn using DVD Decrypter

Does your burner support booktype setting? If so change booktype to DVD-ROM before burning. I have a Toshiba DVD player that is real fussy about media but if I burn DVD with booktype set to DVD-ROM it works fine.

What brand burner do you have? I have a liteon and on their website there is a utility for doing that. Also bitsetting "booktype" will only work on +r media.

            Here is some info

Also on this website there is a link to general booktype settings this may be the easy way to do it

No you will only able to set the booktype to DVD-Rom on +R you can still burn -R just can't change booktype.

Did the change to DVD-Rom cure the skipping and freezing problem? Never used alcohol for burning just drinking. If you are using DVD Decrypter and shrink let shrink burn it to a iso and burn with decrypter there is a option for that in shrink when you click the backup button. Also the firmware on your drive could need updating. I have a 1613 crossflashed to 1635 using firmware CSOC and have no problems.

Do some reading at Codeguys website he alters the stock firmware you may need to get a copy of the patched version of CSOC or try CSO9, BSOS, BS41.
