    Nero Ultra

I've had nero express installed and I want to try recode due to a problem w/dvd shrink encoding david chappelle season 1 disc 1, but it appears it's only a part of nero ultra. I have uninstalled and reinstalled nero like 4 times, but I keep getting nero express and don't see nero recode anywhere. I've also downloaded package 2 which is supposed to have recode in it. If anyone can help it would be much apprecidated!!

Hi and welcome to the forum!

If you hit the Windows search - can you find this file: Recode.exe on your hard disk? It's installed in this folder: "C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero Recode

Here's what I'm getting when I try to do that. I thought of that earlier, but it's not working. Perhaps my serial number is junk. BTW, thanks for the quick response.

Sounds as you are using a serial number/version that was shipped with a burner. Sometimes those "light" versions only includes Nero Express.

I initially installed a disc that came w/my burner, but I've downloaded what is supposed to be ultra directly off nero's website and uninstalled/reinstalled 4 times. thanks

Think you need to purchase the complete Nero 6 Reloaded package if you want to use Nero Recode 2.

I have that, I installed it and and I have recode on my hard drive, but it won't let me open it. See the image that I posted. Don't know what to do. I mean even if I don't put in a serial number to theoretically just use the trial version which is supposed to be free for 30 days I still cannot open recode. It's like there is an undeleted registry key from the very first install that is stopping it from installing as anything but nero express.

Solution: I went into regedit and deleted every nero entry and then reinstalled it again.

There is a Nero-cleaning program that can do that automatic. Glad you got it to work.

Same problem as dvd shrink though, David Chapelle season 1 disc one, and it just locks up or has program exceptions and will not encode the first .vob file. I guess I'm leaning towards a bad rip, the original disc was kind of nicked up. The funny thing is if I reauthor the movie and just choose the first vob file then it will encode it for burning, and I can encose the last 7 vob files for burning, but when I attempt to do all eight at the same time then it lcoks up. Weird stuff man. Thanks for listening.

You could try to use DVD Decrypter first and then use Recode from those files.

                              Just F.Y.I. - I backed up "Chappelle's Show - Season 1" no problems using just DVD Shrink 3.2 .
