    Question Media capable printers?

I am interested in skipping the paper label step in burning my backups, for a plethora of reasons. I purchased (Ritek) printable media in hopes of printing directly onto the DVD.

I had a post in a different forum and was told the Epson R300 was a good printer for this. I currently have an HP Photosmart printer, model 7760.

    Two questions:
    1. Has anyone ever tried to configure this type of HP printer for printing onto DVDs?
    2. Suggestions on other printers that will result in my desired outcome?

As always, thank you, in advance, for your assistance.
    Thanks,

I purchased the R200, seems to work very well at printing right on the DVD. I did find that ANY amount of moisture will cause the ink to come off.
I am now trying to locate thin transparent labels that I could put on the DVD to prevent loss of ink. Any assistance in locating these labels would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hi,

Interested in your comment about moisture removing the ink on the DVD - is that even after the ink has dried ? A mate of mine has the Epson R300 and he has printed me a couple of disks, they look great and I was considering buying one...

Perhaps I should get one wet first and see what happens ??

    Ifcrule,

Yes, even after they dry, the ink will come off. It really makes one hold the DVD by the edges. If you are warm and have any perspiration on your finger tips, this too, will smudge the ink.

I am trying to locate transparent full face labels because I think it will fix the issue, but they have been difficult to find.

Wow thats rubbish - I would have hoped the ink would dry to be pretty much indelible.....

Thanks for the confirmation, I keep thinking how bad they would look after a little wash and polish to remove minor scratches...

    Folks....puh leeeeeze!!!

    1. You can't see the bloody DVD when it's stored away.
    2. Ditto when it's playing.
    3. Ergo, use a sharpie.
    4. You want pretty things, find a good looking girlfriend (or, for a cheaper alternative, buy a Porsche).

Your right of course blutach - a porsche is much cheaper (and more fun ) than a girlfriend.....

    Whens your big day ??
