No auto insert

After installing DVD43 on my PC to give it a try (running xp) I decided to remove it.
I have now lost Auto insert for my DVD & CD players.
I sent an E.mail to DVD43 who said that removing the program should not affect auto insert (but it does)
I then installed DVD43 on my friends PC and removed it and had exactly the same problem.
I have tried all the usual stuff ie. select drive and turn on auto insert, installed Tweakui and set drives to auto insert, tweaked reg etc.
All settings are on auto insert but no disc plays.
I can select files from any DVD or CD by the usual left click but I wan't my auto insert back.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

You probably have to simply re-establish the Windows "association" of ".IFO" files with your software DVD player...

Hi setarip,
Not to sure what you meant by that, remember I am new to this lark.
I may be old but I am trying to learn.
Anyway, another silver surfer sugested that I delete the two drives from system devices and let windows find them again (hey presto my drives now work fine).
