      @ elboricua433

      - you will have to save the avisynth filters to any given place on your harddrive
      (no surprise - is it?)

      - next you'll have to type in a script like the one used in my example
should you use undot + fluxsmooth you will have to type in the path WHERE YOUR filters are located (mine are in c:\programme\avsfilter\... - yours could be located at c:\program files\xyz\...)

      - after the path to the filters (in order to load them properly) you will have to use the filter and their respective parameter like:

      fluxsmooth(7/7)
      or
      fluxsmooth(10/15)

      save and start your conversion

for other filters you will have to stick to the manual - this was just one example with filters that i considered worth talking about

Are those like the main ones we really need or do we need more plugins

well, for your every day conversion you should not need ANY filter

in case you consider your dvd source too noisy (happens with quite a few dvds these days and that is not only episode dvds like stargate etc which look horrible) then UNDOT and FLUXSMOOTH can do a very nice job

but please keep in mind that these filters do slow you down and they smooth the picture more or less - but a little smoothing often looks better than totally grainy dvds

as there are almost hundreds of avisynthfilters you cannot be given an answer as to whether one will need other filters or not

            concerning your salem's lot problem:
we cannot say what wnet wrong without any further input from you

post the lines you inserted into rebuilders filter option and please elaborate on:
            *it is not encoding*

by the way: avisynth/its filters may NOT like folder names with SPACES in them - just in case you....

well it worked finally, so I left it turned on and went to sleep, and then when I woke up it finished, and when I tried it, there was still difference in quality, I think pixelation, I don't know what I am doing wrong

I really hope to be able to pick up the work on it again not too far in the future ... but currently I can't, alas.

                    UncasMs,

Tried to use flux25 with rebuilder and HCBatch 0.16 test release 2.
Got the filter in avs25 plugin folder.
Inserted the script ' FluxSmooth(5,7)', without the quotes, in rebuilder's avs filter editor.
But HC could not encode because 'function couldn't be found', or words to that effect.

I don't want to assume but you mean FluxSmooth25.dll?

                        2Cool,

                        That was quick response.

                        Yep, I do mean FluxSmooth25.dll.

Usually if I want to use a filter with rebuilder, such as, say Undot, I include the filter Undot in the avisynth plugins folder and an appropriate script such as Undot() in rebuilders avisynth filter editor.

I did this with Fluxsmooth25.dll and for some reason failed to work.

                        What gives?

                            Just the one line, viz,

                            FluxSmooth(5,7)

BTW, it's the latest rb pro version and the source is a slightly noisy black & white movie. I've successfully encoded the movie using Undot & Greyscale. Can't understand why I'm having trouble with FluxSmooth.

I was under the impression that this wasn't needed if the filter is used in rebuilder's filter editor. I was under the impression that all that was needed was the name of the filter and its relevant parameters (if any). In the case of Undot & Greyscale, I simply inserted the line

                                Undot().Greyscale()

in the filter editor, and I got a pretty good encode of a black & white movie.
