copy protection

Hi,

I have just joined your great forum after visiting and learning how to copy a dvd with DVD Shrink etc. Not sure if this is the correct place to post this question...but here goes.

Does anyone know how and what to use to copy a protected cd (not music). I have Windows XP and Nero Burning.

Welcome to the forums aryeh! If its not a music cd what kind of cd is it? I need to know it is so maybe I can help you.

I figured it was a cd based game but wanted to make sure before offering any suggestions.

I want to make a back-up copy of my Norton Internet Security software cd. I tried with Nero but the burn had errors and was useless.

If you can find an old copy of Easycd Creator (4 or 5), you should be able to copy the prog. Most of the new cd copying progs recognise copy protection and won't allow you to make a backup. Someone here will probably know of a better way the copy the prog.

My understanding is it depends on the protection used and the capabilities of your cd drive. Go to gamecopyworld, when you get to the main page click on the MAIN link for "Backup Protected CDs" read the info and go from there.

Thanks, but that site seems to be for copying games, I just wish to copy my Norton Internet Security cd for back-up purposes.

aryeh, please read my post again, follow the instructions. The utilities and programs there are for copying any copy protected disk, not just games.
