    "Nero API version: 5.5.10.44"
That is a prehistoric version of Nero. I highly recommend a upgrade! You can get Nero 6 for 79.99. (Scroll Down) - http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html
or better yet, don't use Nero at all and burn with DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn.

Your burner is a rebadged OEM Liteon SOHW-1693S. Think you should find a better firmware to install if you take a look into this thread:

There is also ver 5.5.10.56 that is a later version of your Nero.

5.5.10.54/56 served me very well for almost a year with my pioneer and plextor burners, hundreds of dvd's without coasters except for
new media and the required firmware flashes.
        old burners/old firmware/old media

What does rebadged mean. Do you mean to tell me that my Sony burner is really a Lite-on?

As cynthia pointed out the Codeguys do great work with the LiteOn's and their Sony Clones the latest for the 1693s is the "Quality Patched 1693S Firmware for 1673S, 1693S, 720A, 800A (KC3B)"

You have the Nec and the Sony on the same cable attached to your PC.

Do you know how they are set in the back of the burner switch? Connected as Master/Slave/cable select. Either you should have the Nec as master (attached to the end of the cable) and the Sony as slave or both set as cable select.

                      Recorder: Version: KYS3 - HA 1 TA 1 - 5.5.10.56
Nero supposed to detect what your Recoder (burner) is and doesn't even display it here. According to firmware version KYS3, it supposed to be your Sony burner.

Nero software is really old. Needs to be updated. http://www.nero.com/en/Updates.html

Do this and see if you are having other problems. If so, post another log.

Just curious if the switch in the back of the burner can override this and cause the problems even if it looks like it's set up right.

Did you burn from within DVD Shrink or with Nero itself? If from Nero itself what did the buffers look like? What else are you doing/have running when you go to burn? There is a 10% less memory available in your second log than in the first and only 85MB free.

I did search on that error code and the only valid post that seems to have helped (the thread was in french) sounded to be to check the hardware swich in the back of the devices.

I use the nero within DVD Shrink. I am fairly new to this so I don't know anything about switches, but I also have an HP DVD Writer 420e and the same message attend to appear. I make sure everything is closed when I burn. Do you think that something may be wrong with the Hardrive, or could it be both of my burners.
