Default DVD Burns failed in DVD Decrypter & Nero

I've been using the same procedure for a few months now for backups. Rip/decrypt with DVD Decrypter and compress wth DVD Shrink, saved to an .iso file, then burn with DVD Decrypter. It's worked great up until now. Recently it's not working for any of the DVDs I have. I have a Memorex 16x double layer external DVD-RW drive and am using good media (have tried Taiyo Yuden +R and Ricoh -R). I've checked the DMA. Not running too much stuff in the background. Firmware? I'm not sure what to check or how to fix if that's the problem. "The firmware page" thread confused me.

    Here are the logs, though.

Your firmware is a bit out of date (see here for an update) but I don't think this is the issue.

You got anything else on the USB while this is running? Disconnect them if you do. Make sure, in device manager, that everything is A-OK.

    Also, read this.

Okay, I updated the firmware. No, nothing else is connected to the USB... I did recently install an external Hard Drive which connects to the USB, and the drive software reformatted the drive to NTFS file system. But that is unplugged. Not sure if it could interfere. Device manager?

I suppose I'll try the comp power off->drive power off->restart windows->drive power on sequence in the thread link you gave.

Thanks for the welcome! Any other ideas are more than welcome.

You should update your <a href="http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php">Nero</a> its now up to 6.6.0.16

You also have Nero's Incd installed which has been know to cause some problems. You can get Nero's Incd clean tool here

But neither of the Nero things would have any impact on DVD Decrypter's burning, right? Everything on the computer and the drive has stayed the same; it worked for a few months and now I'm getting the same errors every time.

Correct, although for Nero users, we recommend updating it and getting rid of InCD (which is packet writing software and might be making a claim on your drive).

dbminter's explanation is a very good detailed one. He is a beta tester for ImgBurn, which is the burning successor to DVD Decrypter, and really knows his stuff on this one.

You could also uninstall Nero and use all Nero's clean tools and do a fresh install of Nero with the latest version 6.6.0.16 without Incd. After this run Force Aspi for the best aspi compatability.
