    Exclamation-2 Disc not being recognized?

    Hi, I bought Maxwell DVD+R

When I put the blank disc into my drive it does not recognize it.

The DVD drive: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4020B

It will read a burned dvd+r, but won't burn one, so it can't see a blank!

the bad news, your burner will burn(maybe) dvd-r's(~2x) which you
    won't find.

the good news, new burners are better than ever and cheaper than ever.

Not really, as DVD-R 8x or 16x discs will burn at 2x also. At least the ones made for recorders will, as recorders record at 1x. As for the drive, check this out, it is cheap, maybe not the best, but burns fine for me. Even though there are bad reviews, it works fine:
