Help with benq dvd 1640 w drive

I recently had a new computer built, and I try to burn dvd's using the new drive I have. It is a benq 1640 w dvd drive. The last drive I had was a NEC ND3540A. I have problems with the burning speed with the new drive. I get 2.4x and maximum where with the NEC I was up to almost the full 16x speed. I have tried with both Nero 6 and 7. I am not sure what is different, and if anyone has any ideas, they would be appreciated. I use dvd shrink
    thanks

        wrong log
"Burn process completed successfully at 8x (11,080 KB/s)"

anyway the media is not correctly identifed by nero, firmware is only ine step behind,
        must be newer media.

what media are you using and firmware revision do you have?

the BenQ DW1640 doesnt overspeed media at all unless you have firmware BSKB or later installed (newest is BSMB). You will also need Qsuite 2.1 to enable overspeeding with the drive. you can get Qsuite and firmware updates here:

          Qsuite is under "Software(Patch)".

i'm guessing the media you have is faster than 2.4x rated, but if it IS 2.4x rated media, then thats your problem.

i use either taiyo yuden or verbatim media rated for 8x. i have firmware BSLB which I updated to when I got the new drive a few months ago. I don't know about Qsuite, as the NEC drive I had didn't mention that.

I had a BENQ 1620Pro I just bought and returned it. If you look at BENQ's website you can only use certain media. You can not use HP or Memorex dvds. I bought Sony ones which were on the list and still had problems. I returned the drive and got a Sony which is great.
