    Need external DL burner

    Hi;

After many faithful burns with my trusty TDK 440N...I'm longing for a DL.

I use a laptop, and have USB 2 and Firewire input's (reason I need an external).

Saw a few (million?) at Ebay . The NEC ND 3540A caught my eye (and pocket book).

    Any suggestion's ? Recommendation's.

    Regards
    K

Buy new with warranty, get a combo case(usb2/firewire) and drop a nec 3540
    in it.

Yes It is fairly New but no doubt it will be stocked at the retailers and reselers...

If you look Here They are the all the retailers in the US that may have them faster....

It is worth witing sometimes for the right drive.... I waited 3 months for the 716A and I surely dont regreat a moment of that waiting...

              Oh well...

                    Great Burner!

                    It's working great, and fast....

I bought it already in an external case with fan/firewire,and USB 2.0

Didin't want to build it myself...so I paid extra, but in my opinion it was worth it.

I have some 8x dvd-r's,and it reads them as 12x very cool.

Bought some -R DL's,but havent tried them yet...will report back if anyone's interested?
Read that DL -R's could be problematic, but will find out soon.

                    Regards
