    Can't see files in VCDs

well i got a set of VCDs but for some reason i cannot view the files on the computer and take the files out and store it in my computer. Whe i use my DVD player it plays fine and everything but when i put it into the cd drive on my computer and try to play or view the files in the cd i dont see anything i also tried my dvd drive but its the same.
i am very rough with cds and often scratch them so i always like to make backups or store them on the computer and its easier that way.

what happens if you go into "my computer" and double click either drive that the disc is in? does an explorer window open for example? you might have to try polishing/cleaning the discs.
