I have a Sony NS585 and for some reason none of the Riteks 100% play on it (except for one disc for some reason). They all work in a older Sony player.

That Dune disc starts of ok in the NS585 and crashes at the layer change (probably because of that attachment above). However, all my discs also play 100% in a £20 DVD player including the layer change in Dune.

I got the Traxdata disc to try in the Sony NS585.

I have started ripping the DVD's permantly to a hard disk. I want the uncompressed files for use on a projector through my PC. It won't be long until I have 500GB of DVD's ripped on two external hard disks. It also works out the same cost as lots of cheap Riteks and I know they will play.

Me too, but when a disc that wasn't playing started playing, I got into them.

Right now I'm very confused as I can't figure out the relationship between a disc that plays and a scan.

I just wonder if Blu ever made a DL coaster?

Beautiful scans tend to play on lots of players,
ugly scans play on fewer players, if your
computer locks when the scan starts, don't bother trying to
              play it, hehehe!

Don't think so, or very few. He uses Verbatims which as long as the software/hardware works, will produce no coasters.

My first burn was a coaster (only one) but only because I tried something not done before. I tried to make Pgcedit create a ISO and burn with DVD Decrypter before it could do it. The disc burned until the end of the first layer and that was it. DVDD didn't know it had to switch layers at that point.
