Using Nero Recode and IfoEdit to Create the Mutitle DVD without Delay<?xml:namespace prefix = o /><o></o>

In the early thread, I posted about using DVD Shrink in re-author mode to create a multi-title DVD without delay. Please see post #15 in this link:

Since 3 separate titles used to test for that post were still available and the trial version of Nero 7.0.1.2 were still valid and functional, I decided to do the same test and to use the same 3 titles of the earlier post with the Nero Recode to see any difference. Here was what I did:

1. I started the Nero Recode, selected the “Remake a DVD”, and import the 3 titles
2. Next, I then selected all 3 titles, merged them together by pressing the “Merge Titles” button, and proceed to back them up in the Nero Recode folder.
3. In the Nero Recode folder, there were total 5 files “VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.IFO, VIDEO_TS.BUP, VTS_01_0.BUP, and VTS_01_1.VOB”. At first, I thought that since Nero Recode had already combined all 3 separate titles into 1 unique title. I was wrong because opening the Nero Recode folder; it still showed totally 3 separate titles. Therefore, the delays still occurred
4. Well, I still had to run the IfoEdit to create the new IFO files and DVD Shrink accepted it happily and readily without error

Conclusion: Both DVD Shrink in re-author mode and Remake a DVD of Nero Recode with the help of IfoEdit offer the same result in eliminating the delay while switching from one title to another. The nice advantage of using Nero Recode over DVD Shrink is having fewer steps to do: (1) Doesn’t have to rename the VOB files, (2) No need the Mock Strip, and (3) Using Get VTS sectors is unnecessary

The only question I have right now is “Why doesn’t Nero include the feature of combining all the titles into a true and unique single title in the Nero Recode so that Nero users won’t have to use different tool to remove the annoying delay?”

If I remember it right - this is a reported 'bug' from 2004 - that should be fixed in one of the next releases of Nero Recode 2. But only in the Nero 7 release (I guess).

Your memory is absolutely correct. I've heard about that too and that was the reason I specifically used Nero 7.0.1.2 to test to see if Nero has fulfilled its promise to correct this bug. IMHO, It doesn't look like Nero did it. Probably we have to wait for next update though

Thank you folks for the information, I am a complete noob to this DVD business, and have been trying to make a good compilation DVD to use as a demo for my HT, but without the pauses between clips...

I am downloading Nero 7 as I type, and will give it a shot.

Mr. BenBryant, can you please re-do your steps (to Create a Mutitle DVD without Delay) again - for a complete noob, (if you confirm the latest Nero eliminates those other steps in getting rid of the pauses from a DVD shrink compilation) ??

I would like to thank you for using my guide. I made this quick and simple guide for helping users overcome the problem of using Nero Recode of Nero 7 to combine many titles into a true single title DVD

Seems that this function is now incorporated in the latest version 7.0.1.4.

I am going to try Nero Recode again and if Nero has already corrected the bug as cynthia mentioned above, I will post another thread soon about what I practically find for you to see. Mahalo for your patient

It's not a true one title (it's still as many as the clips) but I do think the switch is faster than before amongs the titles.

Seems that this function is now incorporated in the latest version 7.0.1.4.

In order to confirm Nero's correction of the multitile bug in Nero latest verion 7.0.1.4. I used my friend's PC with the newest update 7.0.1.4b issued on December 22, 2005. I found no correction at all. Opening the combined multititle DVD, it still showed multititles, not a single title at all.

ben - I think Cain was after your thread where you renamed the VOBs in each titleset to be in the same VTS and then ran create IFOs.

I found that thread, but I'm just looking for the fastest, easiest way to do the compilation clips, with no pauses between clips at all - the method with the fewest steps. His post above seemed to be the easiest, fastest and most simple .. I think...

Perhaps using Ifoedit after NeroRecode is not that difficult?? Is it pretty "automatic", and does it eliminate the pauses between clips ??

The merge titles feature in Ner0 should work relatively well.

The method I use is outlined here.
