    Help with burning problem

Can someone please help me with an issue I am having with burning?

I have been using DVD Shrink and Nero 6 to burn with no problems, but one day, after burning 3 the day before, the burn process failed. I am using DVD+R's and thought the problem may be because they are single layer but I have never had this problem with the previous 30 or so burns.

I have tried alot of the advice on this site to no avail. I have tried it through DVD Decrypter and it failed as well with error of an invalid block address.

I have included the Nero error log below. Can someone please suggest what the problem may be. thanks.

the two things which i could immediately notice is DMA is OFF and high memory usage, correct those. Search forum for guides on activating DMA.

But thats only for faster speeds, lemme see if I can catch something else for your burn problem

Aha!, although I dont work with Nero, but I know InCD can cause problems, remove it and on the Nero site you will also find a cleaner tool to zap it completely, use that and check again.

      Madmike,
ever hear of the straw that broke the camel's back?
First you need to understand you have several issues to fix,
and the fact that you burned a lot of disks is irrelevant.
Not fixing each and every one of them is just an accident waiting to happen.

and tech nailed most of them

the media looks good, where was it made?

Ok I have exterminated InCD but to no avail. I have made most of the adjustments needed and will try again. How do I fix the memory problem though?

Chewy I am unsure of the media's origin. I believe in Australia.

          madmike from thunderdome,
lower the burn speed to 4x at first,

also there could be an issue with your nvidia ide drivers

Ok...I have done everything as advised. I have hopefully corrected the Memory, DMA, and deleted InCD issues but to no avail.

I tried another burn and set the speed to 2.4x which was the closest I had to 4x but it still failed with another error type as well as the original one I had.

What is the issue with the Nvidia driver?

The error log is attached as it was too big to put in the thread.

Slow your burn down to 2X or 4X.

I have just tried a burn at 6X which is the slowest speed that it would let me select, but still had the same problem.

I am just starting to wonder about Chewy's comment on the Nvidia driver.

                Below is the burn log.

Ok I have got rid of some more start up programs with the same error coming up when the burn failed.

Below is the memory status now -

I am just starting to wonder about Chewy's comment on the Nvidia driver.
in the majority of cases where people have burning issues and this
                      Adapter driver: <NVATABUS>HA 0
shows up, I suspect it as one cause.

Your next logs don't show it.

Let's slow down a little and get our ducks lined up,
download and install the update nero package 1(or reinstall)
                      neros acting hosed

now explain how you are using nero to burn, specifically

                        Ok I have updated Nero.

I usually use DVD Shrink to back up and burn the copy through Nero as DVD Shrink selects.

I have a few files that I have backed up previously through DVD Shrink, so I open Nero, select 'Burn DVD File's', then select the backed up folder and click on next which takes you to the burn window. I then select the closest speed which is 6X and then click to burn.

load a tdk blank into the burner and see what nero shows for available burn speeds now

Nero tells me that the write speeds are 6X, 8X, 12X & 16X.

probably a pioneer issue(thing), but coupled with low memory
and possible driver corruption might be killing the burns.

Did you implement any of jmet's guide on msconfig?

before wasting anymore blanks, I would make sure to close all open
applications, shutdown any extras next to the clock and speaker icon,
even kill the quick launch taskbar, and try a burn at 8x and let nero alone.
