    when I use dvdinfopro the quality is always very high 99+, with nero speed is about 90 +. and imgburn burn is always good with infopro but not nero speed

          Be sure and verify a few before you abandon 4x, especially those cmc mag
          memorexs.

            Ditto, but only for CMC MAG.

            As I said previously, genuine Taiyo yuden discs allow very good results also in overspeed (8x media burned @12x).

            I'm rather disappointed with latest taiyo 16x certified discs: they give not so good quality as 8x media, but probably this is only a firmware issue: these media are rather recent, and firmware producers require some time to fine tuning their products.

                I have the 3540 and when burning to my TY media, 6X isn't even a option to select. I have been burning at 8X quite regularly with great satisfaction.

                  Yeah, I have some older media that I can burn at 2,4,6,8x. I haven't bothered compare different speeds however.

                    Also firmwares writing strategies improved with time, and not only quality of media. So this can explain better results @8x in recent times
