      Your opinion is always good enough for me.Now is this anything I can do or does something have to be replaced or do I have to get it done where I got the computer?Sorry for all the ? but we as a family are basically starting from scratch as far as PC knowledge and I haven't got on that first rung of the ladder yet.If I put about another $1300 in this PC I can go with what I posted above and I think sempron would be part of it.

                yes most intel geeks have moved to amd. i was once an intel fan

                i fully agree with chewy's post (#45). memory timings do not make up for bus speed. bad trade-off

                    Well the proof is in the pudding, down under benchmark, there are 3 tests,
                    you run them by hitting refresh(2 curved arrows) to the left of report.
                    Let's get your memory read, writes and latency.

                      Well chewy the rookie strikes again.Now I know it has to be something I screwed up but your directions seemed pretty simple.I started the benchmark memory read test at exactly 7:05 AM this morning at 11:05 this evening I decided to take back control of my computer.It had my computer completely locked up even the clock would not run.I have some programs that run in the wee hours so I had to make a decision.Now after all this I still want to get you the info so if I know what to expect I can be prepared but I don't think 16 hours is normal (limited Knowledge).Just for my own sake is this serious?I know you have said don't worry and everything seems to do what I want it to at least for what we use it for but a rookie worries.Let me know if these tests should be quicker than that and I will try again.I think you know by now I don't really like quitting and I am not going to start now.

                      Okay I worked out how to do the tests properly there's 4 results right now for the memory read (don't ask).I hope you have an easy way to get the onscreen display result to here because I am getting sick of this thing locking up my system.The only way I can regain control is to unplug.Generating a report even stops the clock.It will let me right click copy all but then won't let me paste.I just don't know what to do.I have generated 1 report so far but it is 1 of 4 and if I go back in to generate so I can save it will have to generate all 4.It would also be nice to know how to get rid of any reports generated or not so I can start off clean.

                        that's ok soup, I think you have established your computer has memory
                        issues. Memtest? The everest memory benchs just take a minute or so.

                            @chewy I know that now because I can do the tests the proper way.How do I get the onscreen results to you here.Generating the test report seems to go on forever locks up my system and doesn't look like it is doing anything.

                            @anonymez I did check this out but after my own rookieness yesterday I am no longer going to start any thing up that I don't have a rough idea how long it should take.Is this better than Everest,will it generate a report faster than Everest(I gave Everest a good 40 minutes to generate the memory read report in text and it didn't look like it did anything but lockup my system).When the only way you can get back control of your system is to unplug there is something wrong (it reminds me of NeroVision Express 3).That doesn't mean I don't appreciate the assist because I truly do.Guess what Everest benchmark memory read test.(I told you I hate to quit).

                              OK writes and latency look about right, I suspect your memory is set for auto in bios and one of the sticks is going bad, as you have no result for
                              reads in everest, at least we know what's hanging you up. I'd pull one of the sticks then look to see if everest shows the ram running at it's full speed.

                                For windows installation begin by downloading either the Pre-Compiled Windows package to build a boot-able floppy disk or an ISO (zip version) to create a boot-able CDROM. After the file is downloaded an extract must be done to uncompress the file(s). To extract right click on the downloaded file and select the "Extract All" option. The extract option will let you choose where the files will be extracted to. To build a bootable floppy go the the folder where the files were extracted and click on the Install icon. The floppy disk will appear to be unformatted by Windows after the install is complete.

                                Do I download this or do I just download the version at the top and what do you want me to do?Is it as easy as just run.I don't think I have the knowledge to pull one of the sticks I would probably have to take the tower to the builder or maybe I'll try and find somebody with a little bit more knowledge than me.
