Drive wont read blank cd-r

I have been trying to burn a music disc and when I put my blank cd-r into the burner. I get a message box please insert a blank disc. when the disc is already in.

It started happening after I downloaded dvd decrypter & dvd shrink. I am burning movies just fine. but I cant burn any music? any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a HP media center PC. I just got it in Dec. and the program I am trying to make the music CD with is Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator version 6. I also tried to use the Sonic Program that came with my PC. as well as the other programs that came with my PC. It used to all work fine until I installed the Decrypter & Shrink. I even tried to restore the drive back to before I installed the programs.

are you running dvd43 when you are trying to burn the cd-r ? if you are, make sure you close it before trying to burn the cd-r.
