RMA'd BenQ still hangs PC up -PC guru's pls help

Well this is the 2nd dr that I have received from Newegg (BenQ DW1655ls) after returning the first one and it's doig the same thing. It won't burn, Img burn starts, you can see the log on the bottom writing lead in, but nothing else. Won't reve up. I have it jumpered, the BenQ as the master and the Nec 3550A as the slave. I got the Nec after I rma'd the Ben Q and needed another burner. BTW, the Nec works just great, burning so far, fast for me, faster than the old Pioneer A07d that died not too long ago.

Can it be another DOA BenQ or can it be a compatability problem with the PC??

I'm ready to send this back and get another Nec 3550. Any ideas please

    tia

A log from Imgburn could prove useful.

That would be nice as well but I can't do anything when I try to burn using the BenQ. When I try to close out a window, it just sits there and looks at me. I wait for a couple of minutes (shouldn't have to) and then I push the reset button. The Nec is burnig as I type this - ??????? so that works.

Sorry, I should have said, when it doesn't burn after 5mins I try to abort the burn and it doesn't do anything. When I try to close out a window, it just sits there and looks at me. I wait for a couple of minutes (shouldn't have to) and then I push the reset button.

let's start out by dotting our I's and crossing our T's

put the hard drives on the primary controller, unhook the nec and test the benq

and we may need an overclock report from everest, did the benq come with that firmware?

benq is external with enclosure? nec is internal?

well something is hosed about that report?
looks like the optical drives are hooked to the blue connector(primary) on your motherboard, try the benq by itself on the secondary, switch the cables

I forget all the 1655's are premium retail based, thought you might have been crossflashing them.

I was typing and the PC here at work sneezed and I couldn't finish

Anyway - one of the SATA's went out on me and then the Pioneer A07 took a dump and died. So I got the Benq to replace it. Before this, I tried to install an extra ide hd that I got for the wife's PC and I hosed my other drives. Long story short, I reinstalled everything and now the PC won't recognize the Raid even thought before it had. So now I'm running them on the ide connector. When I get home I'll double check the connector. (That's why the report looks the way it does.)

I know just enough to be dangerous.

that's an advanced motherboard that I would find challenging
