DVD to portable video device

I am thinking of getting a portable video device such as the Creative Vision:M. I travel a lot and would like to use it to watch my movies (that I've purchased) while on the airplane. I understand how to use DVD Shrink to backup movies to my hard drive but how do I transfer these movies that I own onto a Creative Vision:M device? I want to make sure I can do this before I purchase this type of device.

im thinking through USB. as for whether files are playable on the device, we need to see a list of codecs, containers and any other info on what it supports
