Default DMA is off in nero 7

anyone know how to get dma to show as "on" in nero 7 info tools configuration..
In my device manager hardware settings, the plextor burner shows as ultra dma mode 5 enabled which it always has but nero shows that dma is off and it appears to have slowed my 16x writer speed down big time..

    any info on this?
    thanks.....

    ultra dma mode 5 enabled
    is usually for hard drives

post a nero log or look under secondary controllers in device manager

so, secondary channels are your dvd burner and rom channels, not primary.. is that right?

    Default fixed..

    thanks guys.....

somehow my plextor 716A jumped out of DMA into PIO..

I uninstalled the burner and let xp find it again..
after I realized that the burners and roms are secondary channel hardware..[ see my dumb post]
DMA enabled is now showing up in Nero as it should..

anyone have any ideas how that would happen[assuming you were not messing around with any settings?

without sp2 windows xp kicks you out of dma mode when a certain number of errors are reported, bad disks etc., with sp2 it has to be like 5 or 6 consecutive errors?, bad cables also cause the problem
