4x question, since I always burn all my 16x dvds at 4x, does that mean that if I bought some of the 4x's, I would have to burn at 2x or less? What I mean is that the 16x are designed for 16x so if you burn at 4x, you should get great results. However a 4x disk is designed for 4x, so how would one interpret that? Would a 4x burn still be the best with a 4x disk?

the disk scanned was burned at 8x, forget design, think marketing
Just like the 8x dvd+r yudens are better than the 16x. A mid code is
a wish and a promise, often empty. When the 4x tyG's were first made, there were only 4x and slower burners, nec firmwares burn up to 16x on this media.

The poor guy, what luck, he ordered 200 more and they sent him TYG01's again. Nothing but 99's so boring. And this is the company to not buy from?

Construction of New Factory Wing in That’s
Fukushima Co., Ltd. to Increase Monthly Production
                Capacity of DVD-R & DVD+R Media
Taiyo Yuden is building a new
                factory wing at That’s Fukushima
Co., Ltd., a subsidiary involved in
                the production of recordable
                media (due to commence operations
                in October 2004). With the
new wing, we will double the
                monthly production capacity of
DVD-R and DVD+R media to 40 million disks by the end of this
term. We will also improve the productivity of CD-R and increase
monthly production to 70 million disks, partly by replacing the
existing equipment with state-of-the-art models. Taiyo Yuden’s
optical media are de facto standards and second to none in terms
of quality, and we will provide customers with them based on
                greater supply capabilities.
looks like they overproduced back in 2004/2005

Of the brands I've used, I've found these to be the best. I know a lot of people like Verbatims, which is also among the best, but these work for me. I wonder how many millions of the other brands were pumped out. They're going to keep making as many as we are willing to buy! Supply and demand. And did they over produce or did they sell that many?
