    Aspect ratio help

    Hello,

    I noticed this when playing VOB in mplayer's console
    "Movie-Aspect is 1.33:1 - prescaling to correct movie aspect.
    VO: [directx] 720x576 => 768x576 Planar YV12"

    Why Divx or Xvid encoders does not do that !!! Why they ALWAYS use square pixels!?
    I am asking this because i have seen many videos that are DISASTER resolutions of 544 x 256 and stuff like that!!
    Software for encoding is also big sh...

    Is there way to manualy change (force) aspect ratio in encoded AVI?

    thanks

    They do do exactly that if the PAR or ODML AR is set to something other than 1:1. mplayer is about the only thing that resizes based on ODML AR info though and mencoder is about the only thing that sets it. PAR resizing works in ffdshow, XviD's dshow decoder, some standalone players and is transfered when remuxing since it is part of the video stream header.

    MPEG4Modifier can change the PAR of a non ODML avi containing MPEG-4.
