I have changed my setup a little bit added another drive updated firmware. When burning with TS-H552U my burn log looks normal. When burning with pioneer DVR-111D Everything is the same except i get about 50+ lines of

But always a succesful burn. This burn i also borrowed some JVC media to experiment but usually use TDK and get same results.

Also drive seems to run noisy likes it's working too hard. I know i could use some more ram on my system but don't think that's the problem. ANY ideas?

thanks chewy yeah i used cd speed with my TS burner perfect arc on transfer rate.
Here is what happened with my pioneer on both media's. TDK went pretty smooth but JVC is all over the place. But like i said it was textbook example with samsung burner. I would just use samsung burner but it's no spring chicken (300 burns). I guess i will try nero 6.6.1.4 and burn manually unless you suggest an earlier version. thanks again.

that my friend is a very good decision and makes me want to buy another nec 3550 and benq 1650 since they love the more stable version of nero.
My only bug with the 6.6.14 was with Copy on the Fly.

the new pioneer firmware might fix a lot also

btw I have seen some awfully good burns with those new pioneers

i keep trying to download firmware and it says target not found. Went to Pioneer website and they have version 1.19 as the latest update for my drive(the version i am using). Every other firmware i have installed pretty much guided me through it and the most i would have to do is verify what drive i wanted to update. Should i be suspicous about this update?

btw: It boiled down to me buying either the nec 3550 or this pioneer 111D. The sales guy sold me on the pioneer. The nec 3550 was and is 5 dollars cheaper there.($48). It sounds like it would be a good idea to pick one up for later when these burners hit the graveyard.

Nero CD/DVD speed won't allow me to do a transfer rate test or even a quality test on my new verbatim+r media. It says that it is not capable with this type of disc and i should create a data disc if i wanted to run a test on this disc.
I'm wondering if this is really a problem with my drive and not the system and if buying a Benq or NEC burner will help or is there something deeper any thoughts.

Here is the media info and a screen shot to show that it will not allow me to start tests if this helps. thanks in advance.

you just need to burn good enough to have a margin of error for disk wear and tear and a little degradation from age

scanning can give you pickitis but that beats burning a lot of disks all over again
