        Thanks Columbo

I clicked on the link in your post for the driver but when I clicked on the BYOS file the window did not open with the files.

Another wierd thing is that I am not even aware that I have roxio on this computer. Couldn't find it anywhere.

Just out of curiousity, how come I having been backing up for so long, and all of a sudden one day (like today) have a problem?

        Thanks

          I saw this in my log: "6:31:49 PM #26 CDR -1046 File Writer.cpp, Line 311<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> Illegal disc"

          What does that mean?<o></o>

with those new sony 16x dvd-r's? just started seeing them a few months ago
            and that's an oem drive(emachine?)

this one should work if not then you have to do a special crossflash, your old firmware won't see any dvd-r 16xor at least that's what I read

illegal disk mean your firmware doesn't have it in it's list of legal blanks

I think thats exactly what the problem is. My last 4 50 packs have been Sony 8X. I just noticed this latest batch is 16X. Thats the only thing I have done different. And thats when I started having problems is with this new batch and I just noticed this about half an hour ago. I think I am just going to take them back and find the 8x. The problem is the Sony's dont really put the speed on the label (that I have noticed). It's just real small writing on the disc itself.

              Thanks for your help!

Look on the the label a little better, on the last Sony 16x disc I purchased, the label is a different color than the 8x were. They always have just to the right of the Sony name (as you are looking at the package) and under the 120 min/4.7GB the speed rating which says 1x-16x in a green oval, this is on the tan colored package. The oval is a different color, depending on the color of the package. This is at least the case with all the Sony media I have bought.
