    Failure on every Dvd

    First post

    Now to the big problem.
Since a time back i have big problems in burning movies.
My copies are always freezing up about halfway into the movie. Its really frustrating.

    I use TDK Dvd-R discs
I use Dvdshrink and sometimes Dvd decrypter but i get the same results on both of them. But i often burn with Nero through Dvdshrink.

I have in Dvdshrink set up a limit of 4200 MB target size but that doesn´t help.
My Dvd burner is: IDE-dvd Rom 6116

Lately i have tested the copies in DvdInfopro and after about 50% it reports no problem but then the rest is just red dots instead of green.
Why does it go so wrong halfway into the copying?

The strange thing is that a couple of months ago i didn´t have this problem. Sure one or two failed but now every disc fails.

    What should i do?

    - one reason could be you're dealing with a bad batch of media
try one or two different types

    - then you might want to check if your dma settings/cable are fine

    - are any tools running while you burn?
    if so: which?

you want to download and install a newer frimware A105 or A106
          Do it in safe mode.

          Update your nero from here

that should fix nero trying to bitsett the dvd-r's to dvd-rom, something
          that can't be done

if this doesn't fix the problem then your burner may be wearing out(or getting dirty) you could also try a better media verbatim, TaiyoYuden.

"What dou you mean by "a bad batch of media"

Have you changed the type, brand, speed rating of blank discs (media) you are using? Sometimes cheaper media does not work well. Occasionally you may be using the same kind of media but a new package (new batch), the new package may be flawed, or have some kind of defect ("bad batch of media") Hope that explains it for you!

            Good LucK!

then there is always quit burning with nero and start making ISO images to burn with imgburn or dvdd.
then you could always try the updated version of cd-dvd speed and check out this tread to go with it: http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=65716. try a create disc but it will cost you a disc, small price to pay to see if it is good media or not.
If you use these forums you will not have to face that...

Can someone please recommend the best DVD Player, (Multiformat Player) that can play movies copied with DVDshrink, & PgcEdit or any burned movie for that matter. I presently have a Toshiba that has been working great, recently though, copied movies start freezing up and breaking up. It will play for a little while and then freezes up and the pictures breaks up. Please help!

                    @ soduah

You also might do a little further investigating into the recent burns that you have made. I too had the same problem with my main DVD player a few weeks back. Where it would play the movie until about one third of the way through and then freeze up. After alot of research I found out that my burns were faulty, so I changed my media. Since then I have had no problems with my player since.

If your player worked fine on the burned movies and now has problems with them, I would start with checking the media, it may solve your problem. When my main player wouldn't play the burned disc, my stand alone recorder would, but after running speedtest on the disc, I really don't see how it played them, but it did. But anyway, like I said since I changed my media I haven't had a problem with my main player since.

Regarding newer firmware. I don´t know anything about that stuff.
How do i put the dvd-burner in safe mode?
I downloaded A106 and putting in an image so tell me if i downloaded the right thing now?

I have Nero version 6.6.0.8 is that a good version or should i try burning it as an iso file and use ImgBurn?
                      Thanks for any help.

So what is my problem? Is it Dvdshrink is it Nero during the burning that causes the error?
                          Or is it something else?

My copies are always freezing up about halfway into the movie
not shrink, your burner or your media or both?

I did this today: I burned a movie and used a disc from Ridata Dvd+rw and it worked without a problem.

Then I used a TDK dvd-r disc and the movie freezes up and failes.

The problem then must be in the bad media from TDK. But how come the TDK discs has worked in the past but not now?
