how long have you been using nero 7?

i'd do these 2 things first:

1) update firmware to 1.0c. it's way out of date

its been just a couple months that i am using nero7. I dont have any problems buring CDs on my other drive using Nero7. But havent been able to burn a dvd on this other drive.

i installed that program and cleared memory but still the same error.

your firmware is from mid 2003, those blanks weren't even conceived till much later.
You might find some older 8x media to work with the last firmware 1.0C
