Problems Buring with new DVD-/+ DL drive

I've just installed a Samsung SH-S162A(L) - a mutli media drive. It recognizes the DL discs but when I tried to make a backup with Shrink and Decrypter, it says it doesn't recognize the media. When I tried using Nero Recode it also wouldn't burn. Here's the log from Nero:

You may also want to try this method for burning dual layer discs.
"Wanted in 14 counties of this state. The condemned is found guilty of the crimes of murder, armed robbery of citizens, state banks and post offices, the theft of sacred objects, arson in a state prison, purgery, bigamy, deserting his wife and children, inciting prostitution, kidnapping, extortion, receiving stolen goods, selling stolen goods, passing counterfeit money, and contrary to the laws of this state, the condemned is guilty of using marked cards...therefore according to the powers vested in us, we sentence the accused here before us Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Ramirez also known as the Rat and any other aliases he may have to hang by the neck until dead."

Thanks for the responses Lt Columbo and Zero G.

I did update my firmware and it didn't make a bit of difference. Will try the PGCEdit and get back.

Tried Firware update and PGCEdit with IMGBurn - still no success

Just went through the PGCEdit. Everything went swimmingly until the burn. Once again, it states that it can't burn due to incompatible media. I made sure I told PGCEdit I was using a DVD-R DL, IMGBurn shows the status as ready to go with an empty disc but,.......... it won't burn!!! This is starting to drive my bonkers. Please Help!!

Update on trying to burning DL with new drive

I was successul in burning a single-layer TDK disc through Shrink/decrypter(IMGburn).

When I try to use the DL format (Ridata) discs, the movie encodes correctly through shrink, dycrypter(IMGBurn) opens and reads all the disc info correctly and tells me it's "Ready" to burn the ISO (see below):

                TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S162A TS01 (ATA)
                Current Profile: DVD-R DL

                Disc Information:
                Status: Empty
                Erasable: No
                Free Sectors: 4,172,208
                Free Space: 8,544,681,984 bytes
                Free Time: 927:11:33 (MM:SS:FF)

                Pre-recorded Information:
                Manufacturer ID: RITEKP01

                Physical Format Information (Last Recorded):
                Disc ID: 0-00
                Book Type: DVD-R
                Part Version: 6
                Disc Size: 120mm
                Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified
                Number of Layers: 2
Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP)
                Linear Density: 0.293 um/bit
                Track Density: 0.74 um/track
First Physical Sector of Data Area: 196,608
Last Physical Sector of Data Area: 16,567,631
Last Physical Sector in Layer 0: 2,289,503

Then when I tell it to go ahead and burn it gives me the following:

                I/O Error

                Device [1:1:0] TSSTcorp CD/DVDW SH-S162A TS01 (E (ATA)

                Failed to reserve track
                Reason: Incompatible format

How does it recognize and see the disc status if it's incompatible?

Also, here's the log from decrypter:

As I'm not very well versed in the nature of drives and their medium, please let me know if this is strictly a matter of buying different discs.

Thanks for your patience and help everyone.

I just downloaded the ts02 formware, which it seems you didn't get installed,
there is only 1 dvd-r dl mid supported and not your ritek.

yes media makes a world of difference, take it from someone who learned the hard way. Unless tayio yuden starts making dl discs, IHO I would only use verbatims. (oh by the way avoid memorex, 'cause it sure ain't live)
