It's lonely at the top, but after giving verbatim one more chance, it a chewy's

    for them
looks like that leaves Taiyo Yuden all alone

I thought your thread was going to say something like that Ritek was going to make discs for Verbatim or something. Good to hear that's not the case. Verbatims have been great for me . They usually scan pretty high when/if I even do any scans on them. I rarely scan anymore since it's results seem to vary so much.

I had 2 coasters out of my last batch(100) of 16x dvd+r's and I had been used to getting pif totals below 100 with earlier batches. Remember verbatim
are almost all made by MBI(India) or cmc mag and prodisc(tawain). I got similar results out of my 8 and 16x dvd+r riteks that I tested. If quality has slipped this much in the last 6 months, what's it's gonna do in the next 6.
Verbatim was the last media I trusted from Tawain.
I have been seeing generic branded cmc mags that scan better.

Well let's hope that Mitsubishi Chemicals gets their act together and sticks to producing only premium discs instead of trying to cut costs by out-sourcing production.
If they are going to stay competitive with TY, they better get their sh*t together!

When I went to get the verbatims, the top shelves were loaded with 100
pack spindles of dvd+ and - R (1-16x) Sony MIT, must be getting ready for another sale. They are looking better and better as time goes on.
Big question is firmware writting strategy support for a relatively new mid.

So MIT crap shoot is going to the swine. Those MIT sony's don't do too bad but i would rather not buy them. I'm going to have to find a great place to buy taiyos online, I hope they get into the dl business soon. About all I use the Verbs for is for dl's anyway. May Have to go stock up on the MIJ sony dvd-r's that I found. My standalones all don't mind them, so I am wondering why I insist on staying with the + only. I know that it is hard to find any MIJ discs anymore in the B&M's around here.
Chewy those scans give a higher rating than my lite on. if it hits a PIF of 4 and the best it will give is a 90 .
If you use these forums you will not have to face that...
