    Hi!
Purchased BenQ DW1655 to replace *lame* BTC Drive... Upgraded firmware to latest - Burned a couple of discs, & decided to test them w/ Nero CD/DVD Speed tool. I am getting the following errors during the scans. PLEASE VIEW The attachment pics!

simple, lower scan speed to 8x with disk quality
    and download the newest cdspeed

and it's better to limit burn sizes to 4400 or less

and burn at 8x or less

That's a good scan of a good burn, remember benq's are a little picky, don't
feed them junk food, now you can go back and look at some old burns and see what bad really looks like.

          Nero Benchmark...

Thought I would do a benchmark to get a little more info on what this burner is doing for me.

I am using the verbatim 16x dvd+r (MCC 004) at this time; it is the best media that I have on hand right now. Do the lightscribe discs give good results? I thought I might pick up some at my local Sam's Club. It is Verbatim Media as well...

don't know about the lightscribe, too pricey for me, I just use a sharpie and
rely on inner beauty. They are pretty but slow slow slow

Quality score of 94. I guess that's pretty good w/ this verbatim media...

I don't want to wander off topic too far here, but I am STILL having an issue w/ DVD playback - the movie "freezes" for a second or two & then resumes. On 3 different players this will occur, w/ 2 different media types.

I thought once I got a quality burner my problem would be resolved, but not so.

I am guessing that my players just don't like the type of media that I am feeding them, but that's just a quess...

time to bitsett dvd+r to dvd-rom
also try some premium dvd-r and see how compatible your players are with that media
premium media, good burning and premium burners won't fix flakey players

looks like another thumbs down for verbatim and grade A status

                  maybe A-

that tiny floppy at top right of cdspeed screen(use it for png)

                    Thanks! Great Bitset Info!

Wow, am I discovering new stuff here or what! Thanks so much for the "heads-up" on the bitset deal. I had no idea.

I viewed the links & am anxious to try it out. Nice that it is included in DVD Decrypter - an easy setting change!

Now, if I just would have known this BEFORE making umpteen backup discs!!! The more I read on here, the more I realize I don't have a clue!

                    Oh well, live & learn!

It's a steep mountain, bring the right gear, and it's a long climb, the air gets thin, problem is after you think the climb is over, the next peak is still ahead.
                      At least it's not boring.

                        bitset made burning worse?

After following the bitset change to DVD-ROM, my quality scores are getting worse instead of better Also see screenshot of scan - any ideas? What gives w/ the bad results?

did you save the burn log for that last disk?
something is bad wrong, especially if you are getting 4 steep mountains like that

Sorry - didn't save the burn log... wish I would have. I will from now on. I am using the same Verbatim media I have all along, from a 50 spindle. I have used about 25 so far...a few bad disks maybe?

                              maybe?
kind of wondering about the flash and the burner also

how are the burns on other media?

watch out for qsuite, easier to screw up a burner,
seen several hose their burns playing with those tweaks, I leave everything on default,
if it ain't broke I don't try to fix mine, way over my head.
