    Fake Verbatims ?

    Hi all,

My broother bought a stack of 50 blank discs at Best Buy. Both the sleeve around the tube and etched on the top of the discs it says Verbatim DVD-R 16X. He has made coaster after coaster with them. He brought them to me and I have had some successful burns and some not so successful burns. Finally I remembered you can check the ID with ImgBurn so I did. Can anybody verify that this ID tag is Verbatim or have they been faked somehow. Please see attached jpeg.

LOL, I was looking in the wrong place. Still.....the media doesn't seem to perform well on his Sony burner or my Toshiba. My Toshiba does seem to burn some though where his Sony has scrapped every one. Oh well, not my problem. Thanks for your help.

He was using CloneDVD, I was using Roxio Easy Media Creator and the last burn I did with Imgburn (which worked perfectly BTW). Both burners have latest firmware updates and not experiencig any problems with any other media. I normally use Verbatim +R's.

I'm pretty sure the media is garbage. All the other media I have shows the same Disc ID for physical as well as Manufacture. That physical ID looks pretty bogus to me. But as I said before....Not My Problem!! ;-P
