Certainly a great price for 18X DVD-RW for 16X DVD+R media. I think you will have a hard time finding good media to be able to burn at a 16X rate on DVD+R with still good picture quality. But at that price how could you go wrong even burning at 4X-6X rate. Curious to know how it turns out. Didn't notice, was it a SATA connection model or IDE connection model?

chewy, do you scan every burn that you make? Once I was satisified that I was using good media, & the scans were looking good, I decided not to scan each backup ,as I was previously doing.

That way, thought I could make the drive last longer, by just ripping/burning with it. I just scan a few here & there to make sure things are still looking good. If a disc would be bad, I could still re-rip the original...

                  your thoughts...

I really dont care if it scans I just wan't a good quality burn. It's just a thought but couldn't my NEC 3550A scan the BenQ burn or is it not smart to scan a disc that was burned on a differnt burner.

                      EDIT
This don't matter now any way I found the BenQ1650 on sale for $14.95

every disc have a mind of its own so you need to scan every one, that Benq 1650S is a dvd-Rom can't burn just rip only
