ripit runs but burn not successful

Question I need to ask is if the movie one is ripping is on DL does the burn needs to be on DL?

definetly not! this is the point of shrink, refer to soups links.

have burned a movie again. shrink said that burn was successful. but when i try to play it in my player it does nothing. here is my nero log;

Verify your burn and see how it comes up.

Plus your burner does not particularly like this media. Change to Verbatims (MCC dye) or Yudens.

Perhaps if you install the latest firmware version, that will be possible.

If you choose to flash the firmware, do it in safe mode with no disc in drive.
