    So what's wrong?
    for starters
    1. off the wall burner, no firmware support
    2. iffy media even with a good burner
    3. out of date nero
    4. INCD installed

OK, can I uninstall InCD with out uninstalling the rest?

I realize that this is not a top burner, but I 've had great sucess with it in my daughters computer. (It will burn all those new Disney movies that my Benq won't)

About the media, this is the costco brand of DVD. We have had very few failures with this brand. We usally burn in X16 too.

About updating Nero, where can I get an update?

nero download link and clean tool(incd) are in sticky at top of this forum

who know what your burner is? Memorex just has someone else make them.

by using iffy media and burning at 16X you just vastly increase the odds of a coaster and when it does work, might get a marginal burn on the fastest parts, later it won't play?

Might save a few minutes over 8X, but look how much time you wasted with that burn?

            Dear Soup and Chewy,

I have read the golden rules. And I burn at the proper speeds at home.
As I said at the beginning, this is my boss' computer and she will not let me change it to a lesser burn rate, especially since it worked so well before at this rate.

We actulally used this burnner for months, on X16. In fact we have had only two movies out of several hundred that failed to burn correctly with this burner/media combo. Herbie Fully Loaded, which only seemed to burn the previews and Chicken Little which was glitchy in places. However, the redo burn of both of those came out perfect.

The only thing I don't understand is why when it was put into this computer it no longer works. I have used the nero cleaner tool and reinstalled the nero program again. This computer had a much older version of Nero on it before. (The one I was given with Shrink DVD originally) When I couldn't get it to work, I installed the OEM version that came with the burner. What part of that should I install and what parts should I leave out? Is it just the InCD?

Can you tell by the nero log if there is any conflict with other software or hardware on this computer?

            Thanks,
            kathrynmw1

Uninstall Incd and run it's clean tool, but it's possible the mid code has changed on those blanks, verify by checking an old burned disk with neroinfo tool, another possibility is the burner is wearing out.
