    Help!..cannot burn cd...nero write error

I tried burning a avi.file onto a cd-r using nero 6....I used to be able to do it before...but everytime i do it now it says write error....after i click burn i noramlly have to wait 6 minutes for it to actually start..then the buffer level goes to about 22% and it says write error....i have tried changing it to a lower burning speed but still nothing.

I have saved the log from nero. If somenone could take a look at the log and explain to me the problem it would be appreciated....because i haven't got a clue what's going wrong:

There is a later firmware for your burner:

Warning: Disabling SMART-BURN function may result in writing errors and impact on the quality of disc recorded.
        Enable it.

            1. burn manually with that version
            2. run the nero clean tool and install this version

            A110 is your firmware

Thank you so very much I have spent a good 10 hours trying to reinstall programs, update programs, etc. nothing worked. I did the 2 things you posted to do and now I can even copy movies through dvdshrink that I had to use dvd dfab before. It works like a dream. Do you happen to know how often to update your firmware so this doesnt happen again? Again thank you thank you thank you!

IMHO it is always best to keep everything you use updated, it's a chore but I always check for updates.

I can even copy movies through dvdshrink that I had to use dvd dfab before. It works like a dream. Do you happen to know how often to update your firmware so this doesnt happen again?
Great to hear you got it working! I usually check firmware update every month or so. It's easy to do using DVDD, DVDInfo, etc. However, I don't always update it, esp. if I am getting great burns with the media I am using at the present time.

                  cheers, katz

I doubt that there will ever be any more firmware for that drive, just stay with good blanks and you shouldn't have any problems, nero does get corrupt fairly easily so you might have to reinstall from time to time. And drives wear out so plan on buying a new one sooner or later.
