    Bad Burns - New Firmware?

Hi guys. Ive never had a bad burn with my pioneer burner and ritek discs. Im now using a HP pavilion laptop with its dual super burner and im getting bad burns. Ive looked for firmware update but cant find one other than an NEC oem update but im sure mine isnt that one. My burner is HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N HQ04. If anyone can help i would be greatful. Thankyou

Firmware can't improve results on a bad quality media. I suggest you to buy better discs. Ritek are not the very best.

Try to find some Verbatim (except for the "Pearl White" series, because these are also Ritek discs ) or, better, some Taiyo Yuden

Hi there. What burning software are you using?
Personally I've had very different results with different software on the same media.

Following The Golden Rules couldn't hurt either.

I use ImgBurn or Nero...Never had problems before with the software or discs using a pioneer burner.

I think maybe posting a log could be helpful.
What I can say is that as long as I used good/medium media dvdd and Imgburn worked perfectly. Then I was given some terrible media (MCC) by a friend - yeah I know, great friend - still it was a gift so I wasn't going to throw it away. All my burns with Imgburn are bad quality, they're jumpy and sometimes even totally unreadable (no great harm, didn't pay for the blanks). I get much better burns with Nero, almost perfect. Considering the media I don't think I can get to perfect.

Oh! And, almost forgot. Take Soup's advice. He sure knows what he's talking about.

If the problem appears only on your standalone player it could have something to do with the file pointers. Try reading Cynthia's "DVD Shrink for Dummies" guide in the DVD Shink section.

You might be able to fix it with IfoEdit.
